Bor Verkroost was born on March 16, 1978 in The Hague. Shortly after his birth, both his parents and the doctors observed that something was wrong, as one fingernail slipped within half an hour. Soon thereafter many more blisters and wounds followed, and all of Bor’s finger- and toenails simply fell off. During the course of the next days, this reached a critical stage, in which the doctors told the parents to fear for their son’s life.

After many weeks of research, the doctors finally found out that they were dealing with EB. They didn’t think Bor would live beyond the stage of several months.

Nowadays, Bor has made it through 59 surgeries and is, 34 years old. Still very much alive and kickin’!

Living by the credo “Bad shit happens anyway, good stuff: You have to make it happen yourself!” Bor has started his own company 1-UP thirteen years ago, being a game consultant, entrepreneur and writer in one. Despite many physical setbacks in the last decade or so, he still has dreams of greatness, trying to get as many people as possible to know about EB. Several performances by national networks and magazines are proving to be results of this mindset. Having just started college as well, with an ultimate desire to start a family of his own, Bor struggles to reach his goals!
